Friday Writing Room: The Mid-Career Research Drought Join us on Friday, October 2, for the first session of the 2026–2027 Friday Writing Room! This introductory session will explore the challenges women faculty face in balancing research with teaching, advising, service, emotional labor, and responsibilities at home. 

Participants will learn more about the Friday Writing Room, a writing support program for mid- and post-tenure women faculty at Howard University designed to foster sustainable writing habits, dedicated research time, and community. The session will include a mini-workshop followed by structured writing time.

Join the Center for Women, Gender and Global Leadership for Women, Power and Public Leadership: A Fireside Chat on What Global Leadership Requires in Uncertain Times, featuring Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes, former President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in conversation with Professor J. Jarpa Dawuni, founding Director of CWGGL. 

The conversation will explore President Weekes’ leadership journey, women and public leadership, and the challenges of leading amid declining public trust, polarization, and global uncertainty. A reception will immediately follow the conversation.
