Global Engagement & Convening

Connecting Howard women to global movements, issues and communities across the African diaspora and the Global South.

The third pillar of the Center's work is global. The challenges women face, whether in health, climate, technology, economic security, political participation, or representation are profoundly transnational. Our global pillar honors the "Global Leadership" in the Center's name by convening conversations, building partnerships, and producing public scholarship that connects Howard to movements and institutions across the African diaspora and the broader Global South.

Our global programs:

International Women's Day

Our flagship annual public event, themed each year around a major question facing women globally. Howard has hosted IWD since 2017; the 2026 program is Toward Just Digital Futures.
