Leadership Development & Student Success

Research, mentorship, and community for the next generation of women leaders.

The second pillar of the Center's work focuses on preparing our students to be the leaders that this moment requires. We build leadership pipelines that prepare Howard women and gender-expansive students for a world reshaped by technology, shifting labor markets, and political change. Our programs combine skill-building, ethical reasoning, community wellness, and the confidence to lead in spaces that have long excluded Black women.

Our leadership programs:

Global Changemakers Fellowship

Our flagship academic-year cohort program for undergraduates, with thematic based curriculum and mentorship opportunities.

Student Ambassadors

Peer-to-peer connectors across campus.

Internship Program

Undergraduate intern positions at the Center, integrated with our communications, research, and program-coordination work.

Mothers of the Mecca

A community space and research initiative for student, staff, and faculty parents.

Black Feminist Book Club

Monthly readings of foundational and contemporary Black feminist texts.

WGSS Minor

The Women, Gender and Sexualities Studies academic minor (housed in Interdisciplinary Studies).
