Graduate Students Summer Research Opportunity

The Center for Women, Gender and Global Leadership has initiated a project under the theme Women at Howard University. The project will document gender diversity across the university’s colleges and schools, by historicizing women’s roles in academia at Howard University over time. The project will consist of an anthology of reports covering departments and schools across campus and highlighting the contributions of women to academia at Howard University. Each report will consist of a historical mapping of women’s entry into an individual department, college, school, or program, and trace the changes in the representation and roles of women over time, viz-a-viz national debates, and developments on women in higher education.

Report Format:

Each report must be grounded in existing scholarship on women in academia and educational leadership. Reports must be data-driven and graphical (factsheets, infographics).

Each report will use the following outline:

• Leadership within the school/department-- women vs men. Short analysis of the “first” women in leadership in the department or college deanship.
