Women's Center End of Semester Luncheon Fall 2023
On November 16, 2023, the Howard University Center for Women, Gender and Global Leadership (CWGGL) hosted a luncheon to close the semester. This event also served as a symbolic transition of power from our Founding Director to our new Executive Director. The advisory board, faculty, staff, and students expressed gratitude for the dedication and hard work of our founding director, Dr. J. Jarpa Dawuni.

On November 1, 2023, the Women’s Center co-hosted the WBENC, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, WOC Incubator Pitch Competition. By participating in the WOC incubator sessions, young female entrepreneurs at Howard had the opportunity to engage with successful women-owned businesses and America’s largest Fortune 500 companies.

On Wednesday, March 15th, we hosted a virtual discussion on Breaking Barriers and Making Change—Black Women in Tech- celebrating International Women's Day. This event was moderated by Dr. Anita Plummer and featured Ms. Erica Terry Derryck, Ms. Denasia Pinkard, and Ms. Chanelle Hardy as panelists.
#HeForShe Town Hall
We hosted the second annual #HeForShe Town Hall to mark the end of Women's History Month, highlighting men's vital role in the fight for gender equity. The town hall emphasized the responsibility of individuals in positions of power and the importance of authentic and unapologetic communication, mutual understanding, and knowledge in creating change.

Co-sponsored with Women in Sports and Events – DC Chapter, this roundtable discussion featured and celebrated Howard women in sports. A panel of distinguished athletes, scholars, and executives discussed the overall contributions of Black women in the sports industry. Black women, particularly the Howard women, have long led the charge in disrupting the status quo, serving as innovators and leaders of groundbreaking change.
